Anwar Set To Field Najib And Ku Nan’s Former Aide In Sungai Buloh

PKR President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to field former MIC Treasurer General, Datuk Ramanan Ramakrishnan in the Sungai Buloh Parliament seat.

According to a top source close to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, the decision could be announced tonight.

According to an Astro Awani report, Ramanan had stepped down as MIC Treasurer General in 2014 over a fraud case in which he was ordered to return RM5.5 million to the plaintiff.

He appealed the decision.

When asked why he decided to step down as it was only a civil case and some other MIC leaders had previously been involved in similar cases, Ramanan said it is an honorable thing to do because he loves the party, Barisan Nasional (BN) and former MIC President, Datuk Seri Palanivel Govindasamy.

Ramanan who is also a former aide to UMNO’s Datuk Seri Najib Razak (Defence Minister) and Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor (Federal Territories Minister) then joined PKR and was appointed as Central Leadership Council Member and Deputy Strategic Director.

He is currently PKR’s Deputy Information Chief.

The Sungai Buloh Parliament seat is currently held by PKR’s Sivarasa Rasiah.

The activist and human rights lawyer has held the seat since 2008.
