BN Leads GE15 Race, With PH And PN Trailing Behind

Barisan Nasional (BN) remains as front runners in the pursuit of Peninsular Malaysia’s 165 Parliament seats this 15th General Election (GE15), due to split support among the Opposition comprising Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN).

According to a research paper presented at JP Morgan’s “Malaysia Economic Seminar”, Dr. Tricia Yeoh who is the CEO of IDEAS said that BN is likely to secure 56 seats, followed by PH (32 seats) and PN (27 seats) in the coming 15th General Election (GE15).

A total of 50 seats remain in the grey areas as voters are still undecided.

As for support according to racial demography, the Malays which make up 62.6% of the electorate saw 37% in favour of BN, followed by PN (14.6%) and PH (10.2%).

34.9% of Malay respondents were still undecided.

The Chinese who make up 28.6% of the electorate saw PH gaining the biggest share of support at 51.3%, followed by BN (6.0%) and PN (0.3%).

36.6% of the Chinese respondents remain undecided.

The Indians who make up 8.8% of the electorate saw PH capturing 54.7% support, followed by BN (20.9%) and PN (1.2%).

16.2% of the Indian respondents remain undecided.

The seminar on 19 October was organised for international bankers and economists at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
