BN Sec-Gen: No, I Cannot Verify Letter Of BN MPs Supporting Mahiaddin

A letter alleging BN MPs’ support for Prime Minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin Md. Yasin has turned out to be unverifiable.

As such, the coalition’s Secretary General, Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir said he cannot comment further on the issue.

“I have been contacted by various parties and the media to verify a letter that bears no logo and no name that has been circulated since last night, regarding BN MPs.”

“I cannot comment further because the letter is unverifiable and nobody has come forward to claim responsibility for the statement.”

He added, his office is only responsible for official statements approved by BN’s Supreme Council and top leaders.

He also criticised those creating division among BN leaders.

“The practice of unity and solidarity among BN MPs in coming to any joint decision will continue to be preserved. As such, any measures and actions created by certain parties for the purpose of creating doubts and divisions among BN members is very regrettable.”

The unverifiable letter which has no official BN letterhead and no signatories was circulated  since Friday.

It claims that all BN MPs will continue to support Mahiaddin.

Among those who widely shared the unverifiable letter were pro-Mahiaddin supporters and cybertroopers, including the official Facebook page of PAS’s youth wing.

However, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is also a BN MP himself, questioned the authenticity of the statement.

He said as a BN MP himself, he will abide by the UMNO Supreme Council’s decision to withdraw support for Mahiaddin.

He also challenged those circulating it to furnish the names of the said BN MPs who supports Mahiaddin.
