Sabah UMNO is ready to battle Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) in the 15th General Election, if the party’s Supreme Council decides to do so.
Its Chief, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said, Sabah UMNO will also defend the Parloamentary seats it won during the last General Election.
“In Sabah we have Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) but if the party decides that we should contest, then UMNO Sabah will have no choice.”
“UMNO must defend the seats it won and strengthen the party,” said Bung in a statement released on Sunday.
At least five Parliament seats were won under thr Barisan Nasional ticket in the last General Election.
They are Kudat (Abdul Rahim Bakri), Beaufort (Azizah Mohd Dun), Sipitang (Yamani Hafez Musa), Beluran (Ronald Kiandee) and Libaran (Zakaria Edris).
Its elected representatives subsequently switched to Bersatu.
Bersatu’s President, Tan Sri Mahiaddin Md. Yasin via a press conference last night declared that his party is ready to take on UMNO in the coming GE.
Muhyiddin said, Bersatu has no choice as UMNO had decided not to stick with Perikatan Nasional (PN) in GE15.
