The Cabinet has not agreed to the tabling of the proposed Anti-hopping Bill at the special Dewan Rakyat sitting on Monday (April 11).
The Bill will be sent back for more study to be done on the definition of “party-hopping”.
With that, the Bill will not be tabled at the special sitting.
“Yes it has been deferred,” said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar on Wednesday (April 6).
Today’s decision means the Bill will be deferred for a second time, despite Pakatan Harapan’s numerous claims that the Bill will be tabled.
It had first been scheduled to be tabled for first reading on March 24, the final day of the last Dewan Rakyat meeting.
