DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has defended PKR President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for Pakatan Harapan’s poor showing in the recent Malacca State Elections.
“There are many lessons to be drawn from the Malacca general election last Saturday.”
“But it is counter-productive to zero in on any personality by putting all the blame and faults on him, in this case the Pakatan Harapan leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.”
But his comments were not well received, as netizens poured scorn on him, telling him and son, Lim Guan Eng to retire alongside Anwar.
In comments sighted by malaysiasentinel.com on Malaysiakini and Lim Kit Siang’s Facebook pages, some also urged him and son to step down.
“You and your son (Lim Guan Eng) better step down and let the younger leaders lead,” said Chong CK.
“Try to accept the fact that the rakyat is sick of the old guard,” said Chee Seng Yeow.
“Both of you should retire and take care of your grandchildren,” said Joe Lim.
Yesterday, DAP Pahang’s Bilut Assemblyperson Lee Chin Chen and Tras Assemblyman, Chow Yu Hui urged Anwar to step down and take a back seat following PH’s defeat in the recently concluded Malacca state election.
They added that the opposition coalition should explore new directions and find a new consensus as soon as possible, failing which he said DAP must consider the possibility of quitting PH.
