Pekan Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak has decided to withdraw his request for a plot of land and housing valued at RM100 million.
“I have made a decision to reject the offer,” Najib said in a press conference today.
The issue came to light and caught fire after former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad asked the Government to confirm Najib’s request during yesterday’s Parliament sitting.
“According to the Standing Orders, our budget must be table in the House so that it may debated and decided on.”
“The Finance Minister is supposed to table every item but we realise an item was not mentioned.”
“This budget is about a RM100 million gift to Najib, for supposedly his contribution to the country.”
“Why is this not mentioned in the budget?”
“From what we know, he (Najib) is a convicted felon sentenced to 12 years in jail and fined more than RM200 million.”
“is this the contribution today’s Government want to repay?”
“In future, more PMs will steal because they will be given more money,” Mahathir said cynically of Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri’s Government.
Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz confirmed that the application had been accepted and discussed by the Cabinet.
Najib via a Facebook post, subsequently admitted to making such request in 2018.
