Former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak is no longer Member of Parliament for Pekan, after failing in his final attempt to set aside his conviction in the SRC International case.

However, there will be no by election as this Parliamentary term has commenced for more than three years.

The Federal Court this afternoon unanimously affirmed Najib’s conviction.

The panel of five judges chaired by Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat also upheld Najib’s sentence to 12 years imprisonment and RM210 million fine.

Najib, the Pekan MP, will serve his jail term immediately.

With the decision, Najib also known as ‘Bossku’ among his supporters becomes the first former Prime Minister in the history of the country to be jailed.
