Several angry Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak supporters took to social media to warn of bloodshed, should the former Prime Minister convicted of corruption fail to quash the conviction against him.
A survey on Twitter found that an account, believed to be controlled by Najib’s supporters have warned Chief Justice, Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat to gracefully step aside in order to avoid bloodshed.
“Don’t wait for bloodshed, Kak Mun must gracefully step aside now,” warned the account by the username of @bossku_team this morning.
Aside from Tengku Maimun, the account also warned that former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s life is in danger.
On Facebook, a user by the name of Hafiz Rafik who is believed to be an UMNO supporter issued similar warning against the Chief Justice.
“If you (Tengku Maimun) are not careful, maybe hired assassins may come after you and kill you,” warned Hafiz who named his Facebook account “Apiez Bond”.
Najib is in his final bid to set aside a conviction and jail sentence for misappropriating RM42 million (US$9.5 million) of funds belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of 1MDB.
The others on the bench are Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim and judges Nallini Pathmanathan, Mary Lim and Zabidin Mohamad Diah.
